Musicians urged to produce quality music
Artiste manager Prince Mortey, known in the creative industry as Iamprincemoney, has called on Ghanaian musicians and music producers to collaborate to produce quality work to sustain the industry.
Prince Mortey noted that on the international music scene, musicians and producers collaborate to make music go global, but in Ghana, “musicians do their own thing and so we are unable to make good quality music and we are unable to sustain the production over a long period of time but in advance countries like America they come together to ensure quality of their music.
“Collaboration is the way forward and I advise Ghanaian musicians to look for partners and collaborate for sustainability,” he said.
According him, “Music is my passion. I want to get the fame. I am doing music because I love doing it. Music has been part of my life.”
Prince is not a stranger to Ghana’s music industry as he had in the past worked with a whole a lot of big names.
He however, disclosed that the music industry in Ghana has been on the decline due to the absence of stringent laws to check the activities of those behind music piracy.
He also complained bitterly about some corporate entities using musical works without paying royalties to them, pointing out that the failure of music users to pay royalties was seriously affecting the music business in Ghana.
He expressed worry that due to lack of good policies to protect the interest of musicians as well as producers and the industry.
